While the SVU team are discussing things in their squad room, elsewhere, Cassidy is talking with a fellow officer from his old precinct, Groves, when the officer hands him something regarding a hidden cache that he needs taken care of should anything happen to him. Just after explaining things to Cassidy, Groves is confronted by IAB and ESU officers, who are forced to taser him to subdue him to take to the psychiatric ward of the hospital.

Later, IAB Lt. Tucker arrives at SVU to request their help regarding one of the NYPD's precincts being suspected of being corrupt. Cassidy volunteers to go undercover at the precinct, soon meeting two of the corrupt officers working there, Quinn and West. While Cassidy is partnered with West, Quinn gets a newbie fresh out of the police academy.

Later, they are summoned to deal with a drunk woman, actually one of Cassidy's fellow SVU officers playing it up as the drunk woman that West and Cassidy take home. However, while they are there and West attempts to hit up on the undercover SVU detective, he gets word from Quinn that she needs help, though over the phone, rather than the NYPD dispatcher. It is soon revealed that Quinn has discovered Cassidy is an undercover officer, and the two corrupt cops take Cassidy by taxi down to the riverfront while Benson, Cragen, and the others learn of it from Quinn's partner. They hurry to help Cassidy before the corrupt officers kill him.

Confronting Cassidy regarding his undercover assignment, Quinn and West threaten to shoot him if he does not confess to what he is doing. As he pleads for his life, Quinn and West call in a fake "shots fired" call and fire their weapons into the water to make it sound real. When they then threaten to put in an "officer down" call if Cassidy does not tell them what they want, they soon find themselves surrounded by the SVU team and their own backup, forcing Quinn and West to surrender before being handcuffed and taken back to be interrogated.

After some effort, Olivia manages to get Quinn to confess to her whole precinct being corrupted, as it turns out that Tucker had notified the corrupt Lieutenant of the precinct of Cassidy being undercover, but though Cragen and the other SVU detectives are livid with Tucker for putting Cassidy in such danger, Tucker got the info he wanted, Cassidy provides him a key to a lockup that he was given by Groves before he was taken away, along with the promise that he will be released from psychiatric care and pardoned for his wrongful arrest, and Cragen orders Tucker out of his precinct, not wanting to see him there again after the stunt he pulled that put Cassidy in so much danger.

Cassidy then sees Groves released, much to his surprise that Cassidy got him released and pardoned, before explaining that they got Quinn to turn on West and his Lieutenant and the whole precinct is being punished for being corrupt. Groves is deeply grateful to Cassidy before he takes him home, and Cassidy takes some time to relax with Olivia back at his apartment following their little escapade to help Internal Affairs weed out the corruption in the NYPD.
