Go To

Cosgrove and Shaw race to track down an alleged murderer who killed a guard while escaping from custody, but when the escapee turns out to be innocent of the original murder, Price and Maroun must decide what sort of punishment he deserves.

  • Big "NO!": Shaw does this when Booker takes a library hostage.
  • Blatant Lies: Troy Booker tries to justify his escape by saying a racist assaulted him and threatened to kill him the next day. However, the surveillance footage of the prison showed that never happened.
  • Category Traitor: Booker's brother, Daniel, views Shaw as this and delivers the following line with venom:
Daniel: I hope you're proud of yourself, brother.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Had Troy not escaped and caused CO Foster's death, his innocence in the murder he was wrongly accused of would have been proven shortly after and he'd be on his way home a free man.
  • Missed Him by That Much: Booker was just at Daniel's apartment. Fast food receipt said 11:42, and the detectives were in Daniel's apartment by 12:03.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Troy told a Cassandra Truth, and Shaw, the arresting officer, didn't believe him until he saw security camera footage exonerating him.
  • Never My Fault: Troy blames the police and DA's office for his unintentional killing of Foster, ignoring that he chose to escape the prison van which he was only in because he was finally getting his day in court for the murder he was wrongly accused of.
  • Playing Sick: Alana, the corrections officer who helped - and believed the innocence of - Booker, called in sick the day he escaped. When the detectives show up at her residence, she appears to be in good health.
Alana: (to Cosgrove and Shaw) I hope you never find him.
  • SWAT Team: The NYPD has an "Emergency Services Unit" and they escort the detectives because a fugitive escaped. The one at the library has "A-Team" printed on their vests, above the "Emergency Services Unit" embroidery.
  • Wrongly Accused: Booker turned out to be innocent of the original murder that he was arrested for, but after being stuck in prison for eighteen months while awaiting trial, he snapped and killed someone for real during his escape.
