Recap / Lady Lovely Locks E 9 The Bundle

Go To

Hairball is making a new potion to tangle Lady's hair so when she untangles the knots, they'll get what hair's left on the ground, but instead it works on Ravenwaves. Fed up, she banishes him from the castle forever. Meanwhile, Lady and the maidens are picking flowers when they come across the moping Hairball. Maiden Curlycrown offers him friendship and a place to sleep at the castle, but he plans to get Lady's hair to get in Ravenwaves' good books.

Maiden Fairhair isn't sure Hairball's sincere, and Strongheart is also suspicious of him, but Lady honors her promise and lets him stay. Hairball plans to collect enough hair via cleaning to open the Looking Room, and he escapes with a bundle of hair from many sources, along with leaves, feathers and rope to keep its shape.

Ravenwaves is amazed at his apparent success, but finds the passage to the Looking Room won't open, and the bundle of hair doesn't work. They escape to Tangleland, with Ravenwaves accepting Hairball back so she can keep an eye on him. Lady feels awful that Hairball was lying, but says that if they did think he was causing trouble and he wasn't, they'd feel even worse. Back in Tangleland, Hairball notes it's good to be home.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Reformed, but Rejected: This trope is discussed, but ends up averted, with Hairball taking advantage of Lady's kindness to betray her.
  • Subverted Suspicion Aesop: Hairball is kicked out of Ravenwaves' castle and asks to work at Lady's castle, but only so so he can gather her hair and get back in Ravenwaves' good books. Maiden Fairhair is rightly suspicious of him, but when the truth is revealed Lady says that if he was serious about reforming and they didn't believe him they'd feel even worse than when he betrayed them.
