Prince Strongheart has decided to leave the Land of Lovelylocks, despairing over being unable to see Lady as a human. Shining Glory bids him come to Glory Manor for a going-away gift, while Lady, the Maidens, and Silkypup plan to go look for Prince the dog, who's gone missing. Shining Glory can't lift the curse, but he can give Strongheart a human form for an hour so he can say goodbye—albeit a different human form than the one he normally has. Strongheart's new form is named Marco, and he plans to tell Lady his feelings for her and who he really is.
Meanwhile, Duchess Ravenwaves and the Comb Gnomes kidnap Silkypup. While looking for her, Lady runs into Marco and tells him about Silkypup, as well as that Prince is more Shining Glory's dog and able to take care of himself. Marco promises to help look for Silkypup, with Lady noting he feels familiar somehow, but he's too tongue-tied to tell her the truth. Snags the Comb Gnome tells Lady to come to Tangleland alone, and a saddened Marco lets her go. He pursues her regardless, but is cut off mid-sentence, unable to tell Lady the truth. The spell wears off and he turns back into Prince the dog. Strongheart falls into a trap meant for Lady, but when Ravenwaves tries to take her hair he breaks free and charges her, saving Lady. Later that day, Lady scolds Strongheart for running off, telling him that they all love and care about him. She then wonders where that nice boy Marco went...
