Go To

Hearing that one of the sacred weapons, a dagger, has been found in Bolivia and is being sent to San Francisco, Nicky devises a plan to break into the museum where it will be displayed. Failing to gain his contact's cooperation, Henry enlists Althea and Ryan to help them with the endeavor.

Tropes featured in this episode:

  • Buy Them Off: Chase Matheson sends his lawyer to bribe Althea from speaking out about his rape, warning her that if she refuses the offer, Dennis' family will go down with Matheson should his company falls. Knowing how much the Soong have been contributing to the community, Althea reluctantly agrees, but jacks up the offer by a couple hundred thousand bucks and donates them to fund Ryan's clinic.
  • Contrived Coincidence: It turns out the venue where Jin takes Mei-Li for the date is the Reed Museum gala, where their children are all also in attendance.
  • Cutting Corners: The mayor cuts the funding to Ryan's clinic, threatening them to close by the end of the month.
  • Dark Secret: Zhilan claims that Pei-Ling murdered their father and ran away to the monastery with the sacred sword to escape her crimes, and she is merely rectifying her mistakes by taking the sword back.
  • Hostage for MacGuffin: Zhilan subtly threatens to hurt her parents if Nicky refuses to give up the dagger.
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: Henry gives a very unconvincing reason to get away from Jin and Mei-Li.
  • Oblivious Guilt Slinging: Althea is discouraged from reporting the rape upon hearing from Dennis how much the Soong have done for the community.
  • Only in It for the Money: Randall is only interested to sell looted artifacts he obtains to the highest bidders.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Nicky and Henry successfully retrieve the dagger, only for Zhilan to appear and take it away by threatening Nicky's family.
  • You Are Not Alone: Henry invites Althea and Ryan to help him and Nicky break into the museum when the latter decides to go it alone.
