Season 1, Episode 16: Eclipse

Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Athena accidentally calls Stupendous "Splendiferous" instead of her actual name while apologizing.
  • Always Need What You Gave Up: After giving his mother the old heave-ho, Tyrannis realizes too late that Ares and Athena have nominated him to fly the ship alongside the former and he needs Deleria to bail him out.
  • Authority in Name Only: Apollo snaps at Athena that none of the gods actually embody or otherwise have direct control over the things they're said to be in charge of, since they were just titles Zeus handed out to make them feel important.
  • Calling the Old Woman Out: Tyrannis does this to Deleria when he has had enough of her arrogant attitude and even kicks her out of his palace.
  • Cassandra Truth: Hippocampus and Hephaestus think Tyrannis is crazy for thinking that the Earth is round, despite seeing it with his own eyes.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Tyrannis points out that his mom was banished from Mount Olympus and the Gods asking Deleria to come back would be defying Zeus. Even Deleria agees with him for that.
  • Got Volunteered: Ares is volunteered to be shot up to the eclipse to end it.
  • Not So Invincible After All: It's through Apollo blacking out and freezing from being in the vacuum of space that it's learned that gods still have physical needs, just far less than mortals. Hephaestus states that he managed to hold his breath for several days on a snipe dare from Zeus.
  • Power Perversion Potential: Zeus hasn't been seen for a long time because he used his animal shapeshifting to assume a hybridized form that's perfect for fellating himself indefinitely. Since he has no physical needs he doesn't need to stop.
  • Special Guest: Chris Parnell as Ares.
  • The Scapegoat: Tyrannis ends up being the designated fall guy if the plan to end to the eclipse ends.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • After Tyrannis declares that he won't need to tell his citizens that there's no need to panic, Hermes comes to tell him that the Gods are blaming Deleria for the eclipse.
    • Deleria says that she saw how long the fuse was when Tyrannis says there's no time for an apology. However, Athena throws the torch straight at the base of the rocket.
  • That Wasn't a Request: Deleria denies going back to Olympus, the visiting Gods tell her that doing so was not a request.
  • Too Much Information: Deleria keeps giving graphic details about Zeus' hybrid animal form.
