Season 1, Episode 12: Buy Low, Sell Ty

Tropes That Appear In This Episode:

  • Call-Back: The bartender from "Dungeons and Deliria" returns in this episode, where Shlub buys the bar from him using the coins Tyrannis and Hippocampus made.
  • Get Out!: Tyrannis yells this at the chef when he won't let the king eat a cooked chicken until he pays.
  • Jerkass Gods: Par the course, Deliria discusses human misery as a motivator for faith in the gods to solve their problems. In The Stinger, the other gods are discussing the negative affect currency will have on humanity, making them utterly miserable, and cheer the opportunities for tribute this will provide. This discussion occurs at that restaurant by the bay where mortals crash their boats against the rocks of sirens repeatedly, with Hermes exclaiming he loves going there. All this made worse by the fact that, according to Deliria, gods don't actually need anything and all the worship is just for their own gratification.
  • Special Guest: Tim Meadows guest stars as Gregorios.
  • The Stinger: The credits show Athena, Hermes, and the other gods discussing currency and laughing.
  • Weird Currency: Before Tyrannis introduces the coin, everyone bartered with livestock, particularly chickens, with a butcher of sorts "making change". It isn't until they use coins that Tyrannis lampshades how gross trading bloody animal parts is.
