Gordon's visit to this Cajun restaurant gets off to a sour note when he come face to face with Head Chef/Owner Chappy, whose grating personality and arrogance has alienated him from the local community.
Tropes
- Downer Ending: The owners undid all of Ramsay's menu changes almost the second he left, and a short time later, the restaurant closed when the property was seized for nonpayment of taxes. The owner and his wife subsequently skipped town, screwing all of their staff out of thousands in unpaid wages, and in 2018 the building was demolished.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Chappy, the eponymous owner of Chappy's, certainly qualifies. The man was basically nothing but a Jerkass to throughout the entire episode, and undid all of Gordon's menu changes as soon as he left. Unsurprisingly, the restaurant closed shortly thereafter - and yet Chappy had the absolute nerve to blame Ramsay for its failure (when, in truth, they were actually forced to close down when the property was seized for nonpayment of taxes).
