Tropes

  • In Name Only: The restaurant, which was originally run by a man named Zeke who died in Hurricane Katrina. It was bought by a couple who kept most of the staff, as well as the name because they felt it was a good brand, but the staff noted how they'd changed almost everything due to being only concerned about the bottom line.
  • Only in It for the Money: Zeke's was bought by a couple who kept most of the staff, as well as the name because they felt it was a good brand. They had no interest in maintaining the same quality of food that had kept customers returning back when the original owner was alive.
  • Tempting Fate: Gordon discovers that the owners are deliberately serving lasagna that was prepared one week earlier, frozen and reheated, to the customers, something they attempt to justify every step of the way. Gordon confronts the owner's wife about this, and says he's gonna "stand up and shout" to the customers what kind of food they're being served. She tries to laugh this threat off, only for Gordon to follow through with it — going to the dining room and and telling the customers that the lasagna they ordered was old, much to the disgust of everyone in the room. Gordon then returns to the kitchen, capping off his speech with "Bon Appetit". Unsurprisingly, several of the diners clear out when they get this news.
  • True Companions: One of the reasons the staff has stayed at the restaurant, camaraderie with each other and the original owner.
