A lakefront seafood restaurant run by three bodybuilder friends fails at its most basic concept by utilizing microwaved, pre-frozen fish instead of the fresh product right outside their door.

Tropes

  • The Alleged Boss: AJ is officially named the general manager, but his son Tammer explains that it's only so that they wouldn't have to fire him. AJ certainly thinks he's got the power, and Gordon singles him out for all the mistakes for that.
  • Berserk Button: Gordon becomes utterly flabbergasted that the eponymous seafood restaurant is buying frozen fish from the store and microwaving it rather than do business with the fishermen who work mere feet from their front door.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Once the kitchen staff starts messing up yet again and refuses to listen to Aaron, Scott, the lovable giant he is, comes into the kitchen and unleashes his rage at them.
  • Brutal Honesty: Aaron, the head chef, is completely honest with Gordon about what kind of things he has to cook for the restaurant and actually calls out AJ for trying to put all the blame on him.
  • Character Tics: Scott tilts his head to the side while talking to customers to appear less intimidating while he's serving them. Gordon actually makes him drop this habit to show his more confident side.
  • Dirty Old Man: AJ, one of the owners' father, who spent most of his shifts getting drunk and creeping on women young enough to be his grandchildren.
  • Dumb Muscle: The owners are all bodybuilders and appear to out of their depths running a restaurant until Gordon points them out.
  • Face of a Thug: Scott, one of the three owners, looks very intimidating to the point of not being allowed to talk to guests, but he's actually the most level-headed and kindest out of the three, to the point of being very self-conscious.
  • The Generic Guy: In comparison to a lovable Scott and a put-upon Tammer, Bill comes across as the least interesting owner who tries to hand off his work to others.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Aaron is actually a good and talented chef who's capable of making delicious dishes and willing to learn, but the materials he's working with, the negligence of his team and his bosses' incompetence make him unable to perform to the best of his ability.
  • Jewish Mother: Gender-flipped, with Tammer's father AJ being a controlling influence over his life and his restaurant.
  • Liquid Courage: The manager downs a big shot of ouzo to steady his nerves before speaking to Ramsay, who spotted him doing it and tears him a new asshole for it.
  • The Millstone: AJ, with his antics and constant running to the bar, actually costs the restaurant up to $100,000 a year, according to Scott.
  • Never My Fault: AJ actively attempts to push all the responsibility for the restaurant's failure to Aaron, then to Scott, then to his own son Tammer.
  • Only Sane Employee: Aaron ends up doing most of the work on the kitchen while his subordinates are neglecting their duties and not listening to his directions.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Scott already looked like a tough guy but when the final dinner service stalls because Aaron isn't being listened to, he takes a level of badass as a proper owner by firmly establishing both his and Aaron's authority in the kitchen with a strong speech.
  • The Un-Smile: When Gordon asks Scott to put on a smile for the guests, he himself gets a bit unnerved by the results.
