Wally is at Pin's, reading him a poem and asking if Rosa will like it. However, Pin is too hard at work to judge his poems. She then reads it to Pandy, but she uses the paper the poem was on to catch her ball with. With no one to enjoy his poems, he goes to Barry, who is at his last day of hibernation.

However, Wally prevents him from waking up until summer, as he continues reading inspiring words about Rosa. His friends become worried and decide to wake him up themselves. However, once Barry finally wakes up, he becomes very attracted to Rosa, and starts doing nice things to her like planting roses near her house. However, Wally intervenes, saying that doing nice things to her is his job, and that he should not get into it. However, Barry still continues doing her favors in secret, which greatly aggravates Wally. He gets tired always covering for Barry and orders him to control himself, which he can't.

Rosa continues to not notice the ploy, until one winter, Barry wins the prize for the new prize of pears he cultivated that he named after Rosa. She rushes to his house to thank him, but he just began hibernating. Rosa then falls asleep next to him too, seemingly also falling into hibernation as well. With this opportunity, Wally reads Barry books about gardening while he's asleep, while reading Rosa his poems.
