Other dub names: Happy New Year! (4Kids); Where Does The Old Year Go (Studio 100)

The New Year is coming and Chiko goes to visit Krash to celebrate it together. But for some reason, Krash isn't eager to celebrate and asks his friend to wait a bit.

When Dokko and Rosa approach the house, Chiko was covered in snow. After he explains what's going on, Rosa wonders how is it possible not to prepare for the New Year at such a time and knocks on the door. Krash responds and reveals his secret to his friends: he has not yet redone all the things planned for this year, and cannot meet the new one. Rosa offers to open the doors for a while and assures Krash that the old year will not have time to escape. Krash agrees and opens the door a crack, but the wind throws it wide open, and the rabbit decides that the old year still manages to escape.

At this time, Carlin appears in the yard in a Santa Claus costume, and Krash takes him for the Old Year. Rosa, Dokko and Chiko run towards Carlin and knock him down. Soon they realize that it's not the old year before them. Carlin offers to guard according to the instructions. Olga drives into the yard on skis, and interrupts their guarding, suggesting to make a snowman that will take their position.

Just as they finish making a snowman, Krash comes out of his house, claiming that he has so many things he didn't finish in the new year, and he won't be able to finish any at this point. KikoRiki realise that they can't stop an old year no matter what. The remaining friends, Pin, Barry and Wally, arrive on a snowmobile to celebrate new year with their friends. Krash decides that he will finish his list in the next year and joins the celebration.

Tropes:

  • Christmas Songs: Running up to Krash's house, Dokko hums a version of Jingle Bells.
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: This was Barry's first proper appearance in the series, and the only one where he is shown to have a flower-shaped mark on his belly. It was a part of his design in the very very early material related to the series, and since his next on-screen appearance in "The Uncultivated" it is nowhere to be seen.
  • Long List: Turns out to be the reason why Krash didn't want to open the door and wasn't interested in celebrating the New Year's Eve. He shows the list that has at least 102 things he wanted to finish in the past year, but couldn't do it in time.
