KikoRiki are holding a talent contest. Carlin shows magic tricks, but Wally still can't decide on talent and offers to try himself in a balancing act or build houses out of matches. Carlin points out to him that Olga, Krash, and Chiko have already taken up these talents and advises him to take up paired macrame because Rosa just needs a pair.

Rosa explains to Wally that macrame is the art of weaving different things out of strings. They start training, but Wally quickly gives up and leaves. At night, Carlin comes to Wally and tells him not to quit training because of small difficulties. He needs to be patient a little, and then macrame will reveal his secrets to him. Wally asks if he needs the secrets of macrame, but Carlin does not give an answer to this. The next day, during training, Rosa tells Wally about which ropes are best suited for macrame, but she notices that he does not listen to her and therefore he does not succeed. Some time later, Wally lies in a wheat field, takes two spikelets, and begins to weave them.

At night, Wally comes to Carlin and says that macrame is not his occupation. At the same time, he involuntarily weaves a top hat and a toy rabbit out of a blanket, surprising his friend. Wally runs and tries to convince himself that macrame is not working, but he continues to weave things out of everything he comes across. On a rainy morning, Wally is sitting on a swing when Rosa finds him. Rosa tells him that she had the idea of a paired macrame, and he does everything alone. Wally replies that he doesn't want to involve anyone in this. It is better that he continues to weave until he is pitied and spared from this punishment. Rosa says that this is not a punishment, but a talent. Wally weaves an umbrella for her and says that she can rejoice because she has no talent at all in macrame.
