Touma manages to save Kento from his suicidal sacrifice. However, a series of huge books that emerged in the sky are now speeding up the collapse of Earth. The swordsmen now must do everything they can to avert the crisis and Touma is tries to seek out Kento as they confront Issac. However, with Kento still believing that the future he saw can't be changed, it may take more than Touma's convincing for a miracle to take place...

Episode Tropes

  • Be Yourself: Hayato's advice to Kento once he reveals himself. Kento already knows what he truly wants to do and shouldn't keep himself from it any longer.
  • Call-Back: The symbol representing the fusion of all Seiken powers seen in Logos' ritual from Chapter 35 comes back, but this time it's to herald the arrival of the very triumphant Xross Saber.
    • Similar to how Daishinji judged Touma's lack of experience the first time they dueled, Touma notes he "feels nothing" from Isaac's Caladbolg.
  • Combination Attack: Downplayed. All of the swordsmen apply their power to create the Xross Saber. Touma saves the city by using all of these powers en-masse to destroy the world-ending books, portrayed as ghosts of the various swordsmen cutting these down.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Bahato once again refuses to acknowledge Humanity's potential, citing his own inability to die as well as conflict itself as to why they aren't worth it.
  • Good Counterpart: The Haouken Xross Saber is one to Solomon's Caladbolg, given that both are borne of a ritual involving the other Seikens. However, its powers are explicitly tied to creation instead of destruction, and is wielded by The Hero Touma against the Big Bad Isaac. Also given Rekka is its base, it is a true Seiken, and not a fake like Caladbolg.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: Touma never truly convinces Bahato to abandon his despair, though being mortally wounded by the Rekka is enough to convince him to concede defeat and express interest in whatever future Touma creates.
  • He's Back!: After quite a few episodes of failed pep talks, Kento finally returns to Touma's side and wields Ikazuchi once more after he has a heart-to-heart with his father Hayato.
  • Not Quite Dead: Turns out the Bird that informed Yuri of Tassel's imprisonment in Chapter 32 was in fact Hayato, who was rescued by Tassel 15 years ago. This gives Hayato the chance to talk with Kento and help with the creation of the Xross Saber.
  • This Cannot Be!: Bahato's reaction at getting fatally wounded by Rekka.
  • Wham Shot: While Touma and the others are celebrating, an unseen person (heavily implied to be Desast) makes off with the Kyomu.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: Bahato implies his inability to die is one of the reasons behind his despair, something none of the other swordsmen can really relate with. Touma points this out as the obvious excuse it is. Him actually getting damaged by the Rekka is one of the things that hammers Touma's message in.
