Summary
Narrator: Previously on… Kamen Rider Gotchard!
The high-school student Houtarou Ichinose met the grasshopper Chemy Hopper1; together, they "Gotchanko'd"!
Houtarou was then guided by the alchemist Fuga Kudo to become a Kamen Rider, giving himself the name of "Gotchard"!
But before he could celebrate his victory, his homeroom teacher, Minato, appears!
What does he want...?

Having reclaimed Kamantis as Kamen Rider Gotchard, Houtarou wants to learn more about Chemies like the one he caught. His teacher Minato encourages him to take the entrance exam for the clandestine Alchemists' Academy, but Houtarou soon learns that trying to ace it is easier said than done.
Meanwhile, Houtarou's friend from school, Ryo Kajiki, crosses paths with a kid-loving, talking skateboard, which is actually another Chemy, who notices the malice in two bank robbers.
Tropes
- Actually Pretty Funny: Minato suppresses a chuckle when he hears Hotaro's solution for his initiation exam.To elaborate:
- Answer Cut: When Rinne asks Hotaro how he made both Chemies weigh the same, it cuts to him begging both Chemies on a swing set to change their diets.Hotaro: (to Odorippa) Please go on a diet! (then to Kamantis) And please gain weight!
- Balloon Belly: What happens to Kamantis after Hotaro begs it to 'gain weight' in order to pass the exam.
- Contrived Coincidence: Golddash just so happened to want to go for a spin when Houtarou needs a vehicle to catch up with the Skateboard Malgam.
- Crazy Enough to Work: Hotaro's solution to have the Odorippa and Kamantis cards to weigh equally is to ask the Chemies themselves to change their diets.
- Creator Cameo: Suit actor Kotaro Kaji appears as Takada, Sudo's partner-in-crime that is tossed off a bridge after a successful bank robbery.
- Exact Words: Hotaro was only tasked to figure out a way to make Odorippa and Kamantis weigh equally. So Hotaro figured out a way...through changing the Chemies' eating habits.
- Incomprehensible Entrance Exam: Houtarou's entrance exam is to get the Odorippa and Kamantis cards to be equally balanced in terms of weight. This was expected to be achieved through alchemy, which unfortunately Hotaro would be unable to do since he has never delved into it before. He instead passes by simply asking the two to change up their diet.
- Loophole Abuse: There was no rule saying that Hotaro could ask the Chemies themselves for help in his challenge. Rinne even points out that he technically shouldn't have passed.
- Missed Him by That Much: Renge and Sabimaru enter the Academy's main room just after Houtarou leaves, wondering just who the new kid is.
- Mondegreen Gag: Houtarou mishears Minato's saying "conservation of weight" as "conversation of ways"In original Japanese.
- No Honor Among Thieves: One of the bank robbers betrays his partner to take all the money for himself.
- Nothing but Skin and Bones: The end result of the already thin looking Odorippa 'going on a diet' results in the Chemy looking like a deflated stick figure.
- The Reveal:
- Rinne and the Academy consider Fuga a traitor, presumably for spiriting the Chemies away from their safekeeping.
- Chemies are the result of a rare occurrence in alchemy wherein alchemical techniques that are supposed to be temporary end up having a permanent effect.
- Wham Shot: As Rinne and Hotarou walk off, the camera pans back to the man in a black leather jacket and sword who observed them earlier in the episode. The back of the jacket also has the symbol of the Alchemist's Academy and his alchemist ring is green, compared to Rinne and Hotarou's blue.
