Just what is his secret?

Tropes

  • All There in the Manual: According to the website, the person transformed into the Jungle Malgam in the flashbacks was “Golem” Gouriki from Episode 5.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Fuga returns, though the reason why he's still alive is left unresolved for now.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Rinne chides Fuga after the two reunite, having missed her father for so long.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Iron Gotchard easily defeats the Pterodactyl Malgam less than halfway into the Cold Opening.
  • Deadly Upgrade: As with most Rider upgrades, Houtaro's transformation into Iron Gotchard leaves him knocked out.
  • Forced to Watch: Minato couldn't help but watch helplessly as Geryon threw Taiki around like a ragdoll and brainwashed several alchemists into fighting each other.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: After Houtaro, Rinne and Supana demonstrate their resolve to Minato, the latter walks away but without retrieving the Dreadriver, indicating he's come to reconsider his allegiance to Geryon.
  • Hope Spot: In the flashback ten years ago, Minato is shown apprehending Geryon by turning a sculpture into impromptu handcuffs to detain him. Geryon, however, transmutes said handcuffs into his golden Rubik's Cube, then uses it as a focus to throw around Taiki, with deadly results.
  • It's All My Fault: It's revealed Geryon instilled this thought into Minato; by taking action and attempting to detain him with handcuffs transmuted from a sculpture, he "provided" him the material he needed to transmute into the gold rubik's cube that acts as a vessel for him to conduct his powers.
  • The Reveal: As it turns out, Geryon was once a fellow teacher like Minato but he betrayed them and killed one of his students. This is why Minato is working with them: he didn't want the same tragedy happening to his current students.
  • Unbroken Vigil: Steamliner can be seen overlooking a bedridden Houtaro.
  • Wham Episode: Minato's past is finally revealed and it involves many students brainwashed to fight one another and another one dying. And in the present, it seems as if Minato has decided to reconsider his life choices of working with the bad guy.
  • Wham Shot: Fuga being revealed to be the one who upgraded Houtaro's ring.
  • You Are Not Alone: After learning about Minato's past, all the students and Supana try to talk him down in the fight, stating they won't let the same tragedy happen twice. While he doesn't go back to them, he ultimately doesn't pick up the Dread Driver in the end, implying he was able to be reached.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After Minato is defeated, Geryon gives a small appreciation for getting a lot of the Chemies, but orders Lachesis to get rid of him.

Titular Chemy: Gorillasensei
Chemies recovered:
Gotchard: Warptera
Majade: Gorillasensei
Valvarad: Buglesia
