Recap / Kaeloo S 2 E 39 Lets Play Dubbing

Go To

The main four find some old season 1 episodes and try to re-dub them. Things turn chaotic when Quack Quack and Stumpy find out how to alter the present using animation software.

"Let's Play Dubbing" contains the following tropes:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Kaeloo re-dubs a clip of Mr. Cat speaking to say that he has low self-esteem, he has an inferiority complex, and his paws smell bad.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Mr. Cat uses Pretty's catchphrase when greeting Stumpy and Quack Quack.
  • Call-Back: The characters find old videos of season 1 episodes.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Quack Quack swaps Kaeloo, Stumpy, and Mr. Cat's personalities around to make them look stupid.
  • Half-Breed Discrimination: During a fight, Kaeloo refers to Mr. Cat (a cat) being mixed breed instead of a pedigree cat.
  • Hypocrite: Kaeloo expects Mr. Cat to be fine with her insulting him, but when he makes fun of her, she gets mad and yells at him.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: Inverted. When Stumpy invokes the Personality Swap trope so he can finally be just like Mr. Cat, he gains a pair of cat-like fangs like the ones Mr. Cat has along with his personality.
  • Medium Awareness: Stumpy and Quack Quack use animation software to change the world around them since they know that they live in a cartoon.
  • Never My Fault: Quack Quack gives Stumpy Mr. Cat's personality, and blames Stumpy for wanting to hurt him instead of acknowledging that he is at least partially to blame.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Stumpy, and Quack Quack make fun of Mr. Cat, whereas in most episodes they respect him, especially Stumpy. Kaeloo also doesn't mind joining in, and she takes it to the point of actual bullying.
  • Personality Swap: Stumpy and Quack Quack get their hands on some animation software and decide to take over the episode. The first thing they do is swap Kaeloo and Mr. Cat's personalities, making Mr. Cat kind, cheerful and friendly, and Kaeloo rude, grouchy, sarcastic and lazy.
  • Right Behind Me: , Kaeloo, Stumpy and Quack Quack decide to re-dub some earlier episodes of the show because they thought they were badly written. They then start making the re-dubs insulting, and when they start arguing about what insulting way they can re-dub videos of Mr. Cat, they find out that he's standing right behind them looking even more annoyed than usual.
  • Who Writes This Crap?!: The entire episode revolves around Kaeloo, Stumpy, Quack Quack and Mr. Cat deciding to re-dub older episodes of the show because they think they were poorly written.
