When the kids are left alone at the camp while Roxie and Dave attend to business across the island, Brooklyn’s phone goes missing and they are forced to flee when the recently escaped Indominus Rex rampages across the camp.
- Cell Phones Are Useless: Sammy stole Brooklynn's cell phone, but by the time they have time to make a call for help, it's already been smashed from a fall from a zipline.
- Conveniently Timed Distraction: Brooklynn accuses Sammy of having stolen her phone at the beginning, and just as it looks like they're about to get in a huge fight, they hear an unknown dinosaur roar in the distance. Darius suggests they go to the observation tower to try and see what it is, and Sammy jumps on this opportunity to change the subject.
- Doomed by Canon: This episode up until the end of the season shows the events of the Indominus rex breakout in Jurassic World through the eyes of the campers. Anyone who already saw the movie knows that the Indominus will not be recaptured, Jurassic World is doomed, and things are about to get VERY dangerous on Isla Nublar.
- Dumbass Has a Point: Dave is the one who points out that it's probably a bad idea for both he and Roxie to leave the campers unattended while they go talk to management about closing the camp, especially given that leaving the kids alone was what led to the disaster that caused the two of them to conclude that the camp needed to be shut down for safety reasons in the first place. He's right, his and Roxie's absence means that the kids are left to fend for themselves when the Indominus rex breaks loose.
- Gory Discretion Shot: Just as the Indominus kills a park worker, the screen cuts away to the kid's reaction.
- Incurable Cough of Death: A flashback to Darius' past shows his father suffering from exhaustion, a minor cough, and shaking hands. A later flashback shows him in a hospital bed. By the present, he’s already dead.
- It Was a Gift: Darius' raptor-tooth necklace turns out to have been a gift from his father, who had a matching one.
- Missed Him by That Much: The teens leave the Camp Cretaceous treehouse just before a walkie-talkie goes off inside warning everyone to stay indoors because of an "asset out of containment". Turns out this actually saved them though - since they return to find the treehouse trashed by the I-rex, which would probably have killed them all.
- Poor Communication Kills: The kids are told to flee the observation post by two park workers on the ground, but the workers are too far away from the kids for them to hear each other clearly. When the I-rex sneaks up behind the workers, the workers get eaten.
