Johnny has a book report due and must go to the library, to his reluctance. Not just because he doesn't like the place, but because the librarian there is extremely strict on loud noises. So much so that she develops a ray gun that can take away sound and plans to do the same to the rest of Porkbelly.
Tropes:
- A-Team Firing: While chasing the Librarian on the book scooter, Johnny tries to fire books at her but misses horribly. This is what causes the "Nice Job Breaking It Hero" moment down below.
- Chekhov's Gun: The "Power of Books" book Mary showed Johnny earlier. Johnny uses it later to knock the Sound Gun out of the Librarian's hand and finally claim it.
- Disproportionate Retribution: The Librarian is so bent on keeping things quiet, she decides the whole city should be devoid of sound.
- Evil Laugh: The Librarian does one once she reveals her plan and literally silences the heroes with her gun.
- Mime and Music-Only Cartoon: Done briefly in the climax as the Test siblings and Dukey try to get the sound gun back. The gun discharges end up hitting a nearby pianist, returning sound to the instrument, who plays music as the struggle goes on.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
- During the chase to get the sound gun, Johnny accidentally reflects one of the sound silencing shots into the air where it hits a satellite in space and reflects over the city, taking away the sound in the process. The Librarian even mocks him for it.
- At the end once the group get the gun back, Johnny uses the same satellite to restore the sound to the city...except with the wrong sounds to the wrong objects and people. He sheepishly hands the gun over to his sisters for them figure out how to fix things.
- Self-Deprecation: The episode makes fun of the whip snap sound Johnny produces when he makes his more wild movements (which most detractors have listed as an annoyance of the show) when the librarian, after causing Johnny to lose his voice, blasts him again to take away the sound effect as well.The Librarian: We've all had enough of those sounds too.
- Shaped Like Itself: There's a book literally named "The Power of Books".

- The title is one to The Silence of the Lambs.
- While Rome Burns: Once she briefly succeeds in causing all of Porkbelly to be silent, the Librarian just sits on a bench and reads her book while the city is in disarray and on fire with no sound.
