Couch Gag - Space Ghost

Girl, You My Friend!

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Elektra acts all nice, but there are brief scenes towards the end of the episode where she turns scary and violent, declaring that there can only be one Elektra.
  • Company Cross References: The episode parodies Sex and the City, which is also owned by HBO.
  • Cosplay: Cindy, Jabber, and Squiddly all dress up as Elektra to prove that each one of them is the "Elektra" of their friend group.
  • Cover Innocent Eyes and Ears: As Cindy, Jabber, and Squiddly fight, Doggie Daddy covers Augie's eyes.
  • Group Hug: Cindy, Jabberjaw, and Squiddly all make up and share a hug at the end of the episode.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: The super-tiny Flirtacia was on a date with the giant-compared-to-her Ted.
  • Irony: In trying to prove who is the nicest, Cindy, Jabber, and Squiddly all beat each other up.
  • The Leader: Elektra is clearly the leader of her friend group. Cindy, Jabberjaw, and Squiddly all compete to try to be the "Elektra" of their friend group. Loopy is content with being the "Zelda."
  • The One Guy: Charlie is the only guy in Elektra's little clique.
  • Shout-Out: Elektra, Flirtacia (from The Adventures of Gulliver), Zelda the Ostrich, and Charlie are the stars of an In-Universe parody of Sex and the City. The intro is also parodied.
  • Stood Up: Flirtacia complains about being left by Ted in the middle of a date.
  • Talk to the Hand: While arguing with Jabberjaw, Cindy tells her to talk to the hand.
  • There Can Only Be One: The real Elektra comes out of the TV and suddenly roars that there can only be one Elektra - herself.
  • Waxing Lyrical: Snagglepuss quotes "Fireflies" by Owl City.
Snagglepuss: It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep, 'cause everything is never as it seems, when I fall asleep.

Jellystone Noir

  • Deliberately Monochrome: The scene in Jellystone's detective district is black-and-white.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The sweaty sandwich Shag was eating at the start of the episode turns out to be the cause of his loss of childhood wonder.
  • Continuity Nod: Yakky wonders if Shag's blood sugar is getting low, which is a nod to how Shag reveals that he gets low blood sugar in "Mr. Flabby Dabby Wabby Jabby."
  • A Day in the Limelight: The detectives, such as Inch High Private Eye, Undercover Elephant, and Snooper and Blabber, get a lot of focus in this episode.
  • Growing Up Sucks: Shag feels that he's maturing and losing his sense of childhood wonder. It's not pleasant for him.
  • Interrupted by the End: Inch High tells Blabber not to interrupt his narration, and then gets cut off as the episode ends.
  • Noir Episode: The episode sees Augie, Yakky, and Shag going to Jellystone's detective district, where everything becomes black-and-white.
  • Noodle Incident: Yakky mentions that she once got lost in the couch cushions for several days.
  • Splash of Color: The Deliberately Monochrome scene still colors Yakky's pink gum.
  • Thinking Out Loud: Inch High enjoys narrating out loud. Blabber doesn't know how he does it.
