Recap / Jane the Virgin - "Chapter Eight"

Go To

Rafael returns from Mexico without having found Luisa, who needs to appear in court or Jane will win her lawsuit by default. However, Luisa shows up at the last minute, having had an epiphanic experience in a sweat lodge in Peru. As the result of this experience, she tells Rose that they're going to have to come clean about their relationship. Rose instead convinces Rafael and his father that Luisa is crazy, and has her committed to a mental institution.

Meanwhile, Jane tells Rafael that she's a virgin, and it doesn't go well. When he doesn't return her calls afterward, she at first thinks he's dumping her — especially when she discovers him in bed with an escort the next morning. But the escort recognizes her and confesses that she was paid to drug Rafael and set him up.

In a flashback sequence, Alba tells Jane that she's an undocumented immigrant, which is why she becomes nervous when Xiomara gets a parking ticket. In the present, Jane notices that Alba is getting nervous again, and realizes that it's because of her suit against Luisa. She therefore decides to drop the suit.

Michael and Nadine track a shipping crate belonging to Sin Rostro, and discover that, instead of drugs, it contains a Serbian war criminal. The Serbian checks into the Marbella, but when they follow him to his room they discover that he's vanished.

Tropes:

  • Guilty Pleasures: Petra is clearly a fan of Rogelio's telenovela, but has trouble justifying it to Lachlan.
