Recap / Infinity Train: Voyage of Wisteria: Intermission

Go To

Goh is singing a new tune as Arc 1 comes to a close.

Tropes in this chapter include:

  • Bait-and-Switch: We're led to believe that something horrifying is contacting Specter due to Dr. Genome screaming in agony about a terrifying noise...it turns out it's actually Easter just excited to finally contact Specter again but denizen voices can't reach the outside world.
  • Breather Episode: Compared to Blossoming Trail and its intermission, this is a catchup with the members of White Gestalt and Chloe arriving to Alola. And as a whole, it's a much needed breath of fresh air after Lexi and Goh's arguement.
  • Call-Back:
    • Lexi considers destroying the story Chloe wrote in the Flying Books Car, recognizing it as her venting out her frustrations with Goh and wondering whether she regrets it.
    • Lexi's story about the hungry desert along with Specter and London's references recall the Desert Racetrack Car.
  • Character Development: Ryoken notes that Specter has lighten up after the train trip, as proven when he immediately goes to see if Earth is all right.
  • Continuity Nod: When Lexi folds some pages into moths, the text depict that it's all about Chloe's trip through the Cyan Desert Car.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Easter somehow finds the Earth Ignis "cute", even though said Ignis looks more like an orange golem.
  • Eye Twitch: Dr. Genome develops one after London and Easter's unexpected video call.
  • Flipping the Bird: Both Raboot and Sobble do this to Lexi, who either doesn't get it or ignores it as he returns it with origami moths.
  • Irony: Chloe can't help but note that she's going to the Alola region, the same region where Ash is the champion and what started her trip onto the Train in the first place.
  • Large Ham: Dr. Genome goes into a loud spiel of the noise that drove him insane to the point Ryoken has to splash water on his face to calm him down.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: The chapter spoils the ending scene of VRAINS when it's revealed that Ai — who had been destroyed after the end of his duel against Playmaker — is somehow alive.
  • Noodle Incident: Specter's scene ends just as he's about to bring up something about a female ghost wanting to be his "ghoul-friend".
  • Oh, Crap!: Upon realizing that the screams are coming from his room, Specter rushes because Earth is in there.
  • Old Shame: In-Universe. Lexi wonders if Chloe considers her story about the shapeshifting wish-granter to be this.
  • Perception Filter: Denizens of the Train cannot be seen or heard in trans-dimensional calls. Even to Specter, Easter appears as nothing more than static, much to their dejection.
  • The Reveal: Easter — the denizen who acted as Specter's Split Personality, It Makes Sense in Context — is with London in the Hazbin Car.
  • Say My Name: Upon realizing who's calling him, Specter yells "LONDON!!!!!" in fury.
  • Titled After the Song: The intermission is named from two songs: "Gravity" by Brother Blake and Breakaway
  • Waxing Lyrical: Goh sings "Gravity" by Brother Blake.
