Recap / I Heart Arlo S 1 E 16 Get Lost

Go To

Bertie is suffering a severe case of writer's block for Seaside's Uncondemning and turns to her friends for inspiration, but a game causes them to be stranded in the middle of the city.

Tropes:

  • An Aesop: It's best to let whatever you want come to you.
  • BSoD Song: "Just Another Night In New York", which serves as Bertie's counterpart to "Wash the Hurt Away" from the film.
  • Flashback: The episode begins with a flashback to Tony's crew before they met Arlo, having a wild time playing Get Lost which resulted in them banned from Canada.
  • Got Volunteered: After the bus breaks down and the gang hears clatter on the roof, Tony meekly brings up someone should fix the engine. All but Bertie shout "Not it!", thus Bertie has to do it.
  • "No Peeking!" Request: Arlo covers his eyes before Bertie as a request to put her blindfold back on.
  • Persona Non Grata: Tony reveals his crew's reckless use of the Get Lost game caused them to be banned from Canada.
  • Sleep Deprivation: Bertie hasn't slept for two whole days when trying to write her song.
  • Smash Cut: In the end, Bertie has thought of the perfect song and is about to sing... then gets interrupted by the credits.
  • Writer's Block: Bertie's problem for the episode.
