Recap / I Carly S 05 Ep 06 I Battle Chip

Go To

iBattle Chip is the 6th episode in Season 5 of iCarly.

After Spencer sends Chuck to military school, he is encountered by his brother Chip, who vows revenge on Spencer for getting rid of him.

Meanwhile, Gibby's Phaser is destroyed and Freddie fixes it so it's an actual weapon.

Tropes:

  • Action Girl: Sam stands up to the bully in the Groovy Smoothie and defends the nerd he was attacking. Despite the guy being bigger than she is, Sam hands his butt to him and sends him out of the restaurant. She earns a round of applause from the rest of the customers.
  • Enfant Terrible: Chip is much worse than his older brother.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: When a bully enters and Carly says, "I've never seen him before," you can see her put the Phaser down even though Gibby told her not to.
  • Inevitably Broken Rule: Before going to the restroom and letting Carly handle the Phaser, Gibby warns her, "Don't play with it, don't let anybody touch it, don't even set it down." Carly ends up breaking the third rule when she unknowingly puts the Phaser down after a bully enters the restaurant, and said bully ends up flying into the table where the phaser was left, thus breaking it.
  • Inventional Wisdom: Gibby's modified Phaser suddenly overloads and explodes when Gibby sets it to "overload".
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Chip ends up getting stuck on the elevator doors when Spencer throws the modified Phaser down the hallway, which then explodes right by him while he sets up a trap for Spencer.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: When the bully enters and Carly notices, she unknowingly puts Gibby's Phaser down on the table; this leaves it vulnerable and when Sam throws the bully into the table where Carly was sitting at, not only does it knock the table over, it also destroys the Phaser.
  • Put on a Prison Bus: A variant. Chuck has been a recurring character throughout the series (mostly acting as Spencer's nemesis). Here, his attack on Spencer (he and his friends jumped Spencer and stole his clothes) gets reported to the police, who tell Chuck's father that Chuck can either go to juvie or military school (his father picked military school). Thus, Chuck is not seen for the rest of the series. Unfortunately, Chip decides to get revenge for his brother.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Chuck's pranks or actions previously in the series have garnered little to no punishment (because he either didn't do anything that warranted excessive punishment or he managed to not get caught). Here, however, he and several friends openly attacked Spencer with the intent to do harm (steal his clothes and leave him naked in public), likely in front of security cameras. This is a form of assault, so Spencer presses charges and Chuck is arrested.
