Recap / Hugtto Pretty Cure Ep 10

Go To

Unbelievable! A Waitress is Very Busy! is the tenth episode of HuGtto! Pretty Cure.

Hana, Saaya, and Homare work as waitresses at a food festival, but because Hana is constantly put down by her boss, she loses confidence and her ability to transform.

Tropes:

  • Be Yourself: Played with as it’s the lesson Hana was supposed to learn, with everyone telling her to focus on her own strengths and she does manage to bring in customers to the takoyaki stand with her cheering. However, she ends up doubting herself after all of her struggles, watching Saaya and Homare do their jobs with ease and she runs away in tears from the takoyaki stand after everyone laughs at her goofy display, so she never learns that she did manage to attract customers.
  • Downer Ending: In the end, Hana still can't transform, and Hugtan has now fallen into a coma from exerting all of her power.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: The takoyaki chef, as even though he was rough on Hana for her cheering at start, he ends up sadly wondering how she could think she couldn’t do anything after she runs away in tears and wishing he could explain to her that she DID help him draw in customers.
  • Mythology Gag: The first word in the Japanese title is "Arienai!".
  • Ocular Gushers: Hana cries these while praising Homare's catch.
  • Stealth Mentor: The Mirai Pad is hinted to be this when Harry explains that it must had had a reason to give Hana a takoyaki shop outfit rather than a waitress outfit. Unfortunately, while she does ultimately end up getting the unpopular takoyaki stand a lot of attention with her merits, she never finds out as she’s left feeling worthless for a lack of talent and leaves in tears after people laugh at her goofy display (which is what causes customers to start ordering from the stand after she left).
  • Special Edition Title: The opening contains previews for the upcoming Pretty Cure All Stars.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Hana, full stop. First, she’s given an takoyaki outfit instead of a waitress outfit like Saaya and Homare and is sent to work at the stand. There, not only does she get scolded for her cheering by the chef but she also watches Saaya and Homare putting their skills into full use, making her feel worthless as she feels like cheering and making funny faces is the only thing she’s good at. When everyone tells her to focus on her own merits, she tries drawing in attention to the takoyaki stand again, only for customers to laugh at her when she makes a goofy display after eating a hot takoyaki, driving her into tears and running away, feeling like she had ruined everything (while in reality, customers had started coming to the stand due to said display). Finally, she couldn’t transform due to her Heroic BSoD and nearly gets killed, forcing Hugtan to use her power to save her and fall into a coma afterwards.
  • What Kind of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway?: What Hana comes to see her cheering as, since she spends a good portion day watching Saaya and Homare using their talents to help out while being unable to properly help with the takoyaki stand.
    • Heart Is an Awesome Power: However, in the end, she was able to attract a crowd to the takoyaki stand thanks to a goofy display she inadvertently does to draw attention. However, since people were laughing at her at first, Hana ends up thinking she had ruined everything and runs away, so she never finds out.
