Lily hopes to make money to fix the floor in her and Marshall's apartment by selling her paintings, while Barney finally discovers the girl who had been sabotaging his chances with women, and uses it against Ted.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Accidental Proposal: Barney fake proposes to Abby with a candy ring to get back at Ted. However, due to her naïverty, Abby mistakes this for a genuine proposal and starts planning their wedding prompting Barney to quip that Abby "is acting too good".
  • Camp Gay: The G-CWOKs are fabulously fashionable.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Ted thinks that the important part of his and Marshall's visit to the G-CWOKs is that they approve of his red boots.
  • Don't Explain the Joke: Barney and Abby pretend to be Sickeningly Sweethearts (complete with Coordinated Clothes) to make Ted jealous. Abby explicitly states their plan, and Barney tells her not to do that.
  • Oh, Crap!: Marshall gets a big one when he mistakenly responds to Lily offering to sell her art with "Only real artists do that".
  • The Reveal: We finally find out who's been ruining Barney's hookups. It's Abby. Barney's shocked that someone would go to so much trouble over such a minor event (all he did was not call her again), given the severity of some of the things he's done to women.
  • Shout-Out: Nested shout-outs; Barney tries picking up a woman by reciting the plot of Jaws, with him as Brody, and he refers to Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) as "Mr. Holland". Also, when Ted claims his red cowboy boots are a "classic Western look", Lily, Robin, and Marshall make fun of him by listing classic Westerns with such boots, turning the names of various Western movies into gay-themed puns.
