Blood Ties: Part 2

Directed By: Nick Gomez
Story By: Tom Fontana and James Yoshimura
Teleplay By: David Simon

Pembleton and Ballard continue to butt heads over the death of Malia Brierre, with Pembleton insisting the Wilsons couldn't have had anything to do with the murder, and Ballard pointing out they have no other viable suspects. Kellerman and Munch get the case of the murder at Camden Yards during a Baltimore Orioles game. Falsone asks Kellerman, Lewis, and Stivers about the Luther Mahoney shooting.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Hollywood Healing: Though Kellerman was shot in the arm, he seems to have already recovered.
  • Multi-Part Episode: The second of three parts.
  • Red Herring: Pembleton thinks Malia's ex-boyfriend from Haiti may have been responsible for the murder, but it turns out he was in jail at the time so he couldn't have been responsible.
  • Serious Business: Fantasy baseball (although back then, it was called "Rotisserie baseball"), which Gharty participates in - he even asks Munch to ask one of the relief pitchers if he's going to have any save opportunities.
  • Skewed Priorities: When Kellerman and Munch are interrogating Scott Russell (Brian Tarantina), Russell says he'll only confess to the murder if he gets food and can find out who's winning the game.
  • Wham Line: Felix Wilson tells Pembleton, "I had sex with Malia."
