Recap / Henry Danger S 5 E 29 Mr Nice Guy

Go To

Henry and Ray have to catch a new villain named Mr. Nice Guy, who has been punishing citizens for breaking the "Golden Rules" of a kids' show.

Tropes:

  • Batman Gambit: This was how Captain Man and Kid Danger exposed Mr. Wallabee's true nature on live TV. While in the middle of filming, they show up breaking all seven of the Golden Rules one after the other, knowing how he would freak out upon seeing them break the rules that he would have to unleash his rage.
  • Depraved Kids' Show Host: Mr. Wallabee turns out to be Mr. Nice Guy, punishing the Swellviewians for breaking the Golden Rules when off-camera.
  • Dinner Deformation: Although she does not swallow it, Mr. Nice Guy shoves Piper's phone into her mouth for breaking the "Inside voices" rule. When Piper first appears, her mouth area is enlarged and phone-shaped to visually show the result.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: How Mr. Nice Guy punishes his victims for breaking Mr. Wallabee's Golden Rules:
    • The girl at Nacho Ball drops her trash on the floor, which breaks the "Don't litter rule"; Mr. Wallabee superglued the trash all over her.
    • Mitch Bilsky took out a shopping cart but tried to steal it, which breaks the "Put things back" rule; Mr. Wallabee tosses Mitch into the cart and welds another one on top of him, trapping him inside.
    • Piper was talking loudly on her phone about the Battle Pigs movie, which breaks the "Inside voices" rule; Mr. Wallabee shoves her phone in her mouth.
  • Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: Pointing violates one of Mr. Wallabee's Golden Rules.
  • Nice Character, Mean Actor: What Mr. Wallabee is revealed to be. On his show he's one of the sweetest guys in the world (Henry claims Tom Hanks would play him in a movie), but offstage he's Mr. Nice Guy, who punishes the Swellviewians for breaking the Golden Rules.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Mr. Wallabee's final straw is when Captain Man and Kid Danger throw their bags of chips on the ground, which violates both "Don't litter" and "Put things back", triggering him to reveal himself as Mr. Nice Guy.
  • Red Herring: At first, it was though that the Mail Snail was Mr. Nice Guy when he freaked out upon seeing Captain Man and Kid Danger pointing at Mr. Wallabee; turns out the real Mr. Nice Guy is Wallabee himself.
  • Rule of Three: According to Ray it takes three crimes to make a crime spree otherwise it's a crime spurt. Initially the Nacho Ball worker was the first crime, Mitch Bilsky was the second crime, and as soon as Piper comes in with her phone in her mouth makes three.
  • Running Gag:
    • People asking Ray if he's seen the Battle Pigs movie and almost spoiling the ending.
    • Mr. Nice Guy teaching people lessons.
  • Shout-Out: The Mr. Wallabee show seems like a spoof of Captain Kangaroo and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
  • Skewed Priorities: Ray wants to see the Battle Pigs movie rather than deal with the villain.
  • The Unintelligible: Piper only speaks through unintelligible muffles when her phone gets shoved in her mouth, relying on her using her tongue to send text messages to Charlotte so she can understand her.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Captain Man nearly does this after a kid spoils the ending of the Battle Pigs movie.
