Recap / Henry Danger S 1 E 9 Too Much Game

Go To

Henry becomes jealous when he thinks he's being replaced on his basketball team by an adult. Meanwhile, the Man Cave is malfunctioning and Ray has to overcome old grudges in order to get help from his old friend Schwoz.

Tropes:

  • Blatant Lies: Coach Bix was passing Shawn off as a 14-year old to win the championship, after kidnapping his pet cockapoo.
  • Debut Queue: Schwoz makes his debut in this episode.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Both Henry and Schwoz are hit with this — just because Schwoz's invention will help Henry shoot doesn't mean it will help him block as well, as it does not stop Shawn from blocking his shots and shooting after him. Shawn ends up winning because of this.
  • Foreshadowing: Coach Bix forcing Shawn to follow orders, like not talk to the kids and read from his cue card, are all hints that he is working for him.
  • Get Out!: These are Ray's words to Schwoz upon seeing him first enter the Man Cave.
  • The Glomp: At the end when Ray allows Schwoz to move back to the Man Cave, Schwoz jumps at Ray to give him an ebullient hug before he angrily tells him never to do that again.
  • Required Secondary Power: Henry gets a device that makes him a better basketball player by allowing him to make every basket he shoots. That’s all well and good, but it doesn’t stop Shawn from blocking the shot, as he learns during the big game.
  • Special Guest: NBA star Russell Westbrook as Shawn Corbit.
  • With a Foot on the Bus: After Schwoz finishes repairing the Man Cave, he is close to leaving for good until Henry reminds Ray there's no one else to repair the Man Cave in case there are more malfunctions. Fortunately, Schwoz hasn't left the elevator by that time, and Ray finally decides to put their past behind and let Schwoz have his old room back.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: After Shawn beats Henry at the game, Charlotte doesn't appear again for the rest of the episode.
