Before all the unpleasantness, enjoy this heartwarming moment.

Come back in the evening, I'll have the door locked to keep out the wild huntsmen.

Monroe and Rosalee get engaged, but their happiness is dampened when his parents decide to visit. Turns out Monroe has neglected to mention some key details of their relationship, not to mention his life in Portland. Cultures will clash and secrets will come to light as family is once more proved to be hell.

It's all hands on deck for the Portland PD as a particularly vicious serial killer is targeting cops, and collecting their scalps as trophies. But the killer isn't alone, and his target is Nick...

Juliette communicates with Nick's mother and Adalind's due date is closer than she thought.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Actor Allusion: Monroe's mother is played by Dee Wallace, who was in Cujo and The Howling.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Monroe calls his parents to tell them he's engaged. His father's first question is, "Is she pregnant?" And that doesn't touch what happens when they meet Rosalee.
Monroe: My dad wanted to know how old you are and how much money you make.
    Rosalee: Seriously?
Monroe: Yeah, my dad's very... kind of old-fashioned. Sort of on the blunt side. Some people are charmed, others are alarmed.
  • Call-Back:
  • Cliffhanger: Monroe's parents learn he's engaged to a Fuchsbau, causing a fight that results in Rosalee leaving the house in tears. A minute later, there's a knock at the door. Monroe answers, expecting Rosalee, but it's Nick, who his parents instantly recognise as a Grimm and rush him. Aaaaand credits!
  • Maligned Mixed Marriage: Monroe's parents are not happy that he's planning to marry a Fuchsbau. His father accuses him of ignoring "the natural order" and his mother says she doesn't know him anymore.
  • Oh, Crap!: Monroe's reaction when his parents woge in front of Nick.
  • Poor Communication Kills: A lot of things would have gone much, much smoother if Monroe had told his parents that Rosalee is a Fuchsbau and that they're living together, and maybe asked Nick to steer clear of his place for a few days.
  • Tempting Fate: Hank notes that it's good that he and Nick don't wear uniform, as Nick would presumably be a prime target for someone collecting warrior's scalps. Cut to the Monster of the Week studying a newspaper clipping featuring Nick, whose face is circled indicating he's already a target.
