This guy seems on the level.

Dressed in the skin, the wolf strolled into the pasture with the Sheep. Soon a little Lamb was following him about and was quickly led away to slaughter...

When a local Reverend reports that his church has been robbed, Nick quickly learns that it's a Wesen church, and enlists Monroe to check for any suspicious activity regarding the shepherd's flock.

Meanwhile, Nick and Juliette continue to figure out the rules of their relationship as a dangerous opponent lurks in the shadows with his sights on Nick.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Call-Back:
    • Bud the Eisbiber tells Nick about his conversation with Juliette in "Quill".
      • The Nuckelavee from that episode stalks Nick in this episode.
    • Juliette geos out for drinks with friends, who tell her she turned down Nick's proposal in "The Thing With Feathers".
  • Foreshadowing: The Victim of the Week was killed by an attacker with glowing red eyes, foreshadowing that a Blutbad was responsible.
  • Frame-Up: A major part of Calvin's con; he kills the church accountant and steals the funds, making it look as if the accountant took the money and ran. When the con goes wrong this time and the accountant's body is found, he tries to frame Monroe instead.
  • The Infiltration: Monroe goes undercover as a homeless person joining the church. Calvin sees an opportunity to plant evidence on Monroe, kill him in "self-defence" and disappear with the money.
  • Killing in Self-Defense: Nick kills the Nuckelavee when he jumps him outside the trailer.
  • Mama's Baby, Papa's Maybe: Megan turns on Calvin, the Blutbad Reverend, when she finds out he's fathered a child with one of the congregation. She rallies the congregation against him and she and the pregnant girl disappear with the money.
  • Not So Harmless: Horses are a prey animal, so a horse-like Wesen should be a pushover, right? Not exactly, as the Nuckelavee is a black-bag operative-type who uses his hooves to lethal effect. Nick still kills him, though.
  • Nuckelavee: In Name Only. Rather than a creature looking like a skinless horse and rider that spreads disease, a Grimm Nuckelavee is just a horse-like Wesen.
  • Revealing Reflection: Nick is locking up the trailer when the Nuckelavee attacks. The reflection in the door gives him a few seconds' warning, which is enough to dodge a hoof attack.
  • Sinister Minister: Calvin is a Blutbad Reverend to a congregation of Seelenguter. He has an established con of stealing the church funds and killing the accountant to frame them. He's in an abusive relationship with his secretary and fathered a child with a congregation member.
  • Spanner in the Works: Almost literally; the only reason the church accountant can be found is because he had a hip replacement and it jammed the wood chipper he was placed in.
  • That Came Out Wrong: When the congregation hold a bake sale to recoup their stolen money, Monroe comments, "You're making me hungry!" Poor choice of words when they're nervous of him already.
  • Zerg Rush: How Calvin dies. Turns out a flock of Seelenguter can absolutely kill a Blutbad. Monroe almost meets the same fate, but Nick and Hank arrive to defuse the situation in time.
