Sam and Jay travel to where Sam's mother died to see if she's now a ghost; Sasappis divulges a secret concerning Pete to his fellow ghosts.

- Fake Relationship: Pete ends up saying that he has a girlfriend from the Cholera Pit, even though he actually doesn't have a girlfriend at all, just to save himself the embarrassment of revealing his feelings for Alberta. He thus gets Nancy, one of the Basement Ghosts, to pose as his girlfriend to keep up the ruse.
- Go into the Light: Played straight when Sam's mom makes peace with her daughter.
- Nephewism: After her mother gets "sucked off," Sam is in bed telling Jay she is feeling a bit down as she doesn't have a mother to interact with any more. Hetty, Sam's great-great-great-great-aunt, walks in and fusses about Sam leaving the luggage at the front door. As Sam is listening to Hetty tell her off, she smiles, realizing that she now has Hetty as her new "mother."
