Recap / Ghost In The Shell SACS 1 Episode 19

Go To

The daughter of a former Japanese Prime Minister has been kidnapped by the Russian mafia and is going to be chopped to pieces by an organ theft ring run by a sinister criminal; Cruzkowa Bosyeltnov. Section Nine notes that the former Prime Minister had previously downplayed the kidnapping rings to keep ties between Russia and Japan strong. Due to Kusanagi's recommendation, he then reveals the kidnapping of the daughter to the public in order to create a national media event.

Cruzkowa did not intend to kidnap the child but was set up by her colleagues and immediately starts panicking upon the realization she's attracted major government heat.

  • Arm Cannon: Cruzkowa Bosyeltnov has one of these.
  • Camera Spoofing: The victim vanishes from the view of a security camera.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Kanzaki is grateful to Section 9 for rescuing his daughter, and returns the favor in a later episode.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The Japanese government denying the kidnapping of its citizens by a foreign country is similar to the denials that North Korea was doing so.
  • Missing White Woman Syndrome: The Japanese government doesn't pay any attention to the horrific kidnapping and murder of its citizens until a prominent politician's daughter is taken.
  • Organ Theft: Cruzkowa runs one of these where she kidnaps young women and harvest their organs as well as cybernetics for resale.
  • Red Baron: Cruzkowa is known as "Blindfold Ivan."
  • Unintentionally Notorious Crime: Cruzkowa could have gotten away with her horrific crime if she'd avoided taking a prominent politician's daughter. Though it's implied that she was set up by her colleagues and so was ignorant of who her victim was.
  • Younger Than They Look: Cruzkowa is pushing eighty years old but looks to be in her twenties due to her full-body cybernetic body.
