• Adaptational Badass: In the manga, Ed says he'll come back for Alphonse before the Gate of Truth closes. In this episode, Ed is pulled into the Gate and then forces it back open for a few seconds to let Alphonse know he'll be back.
• Ambiguous Situation: The single soul left inside Bradley following his transformation into Wrath. Is it his original soul, or the one that was sacrificed to create the Philosopher's Stone? Bradley himself doesn't know (and in a way, it doesn't really matter at this stage of the game).
• Enemy Mine: Ed, Ling, and Envy have to join forces in order to implement Ed's plan for escaping Gluttony's Failed Portal.
• Foreshadowing: How exactly Bradley was transformed into a Homunculus. Father will use this same method to transform Ling into the new Greed two episodes later.
• Whatever Happened to the Mouse?: The fate of the other Führer candidates after Bradley successfully bonded with the Philosopher's Stone and became Wrath. The climax of the series will reveal they're still alive in the Present Day and the Gold-Tooth Doctor has kept them around as muscle.
