Tropes:
- Actually Pretty Funny: After getting over the initial shock, Chandler starts laughing about his Neat Freak wife having a messy closet.
- Catapult Nightmare: Joey wakes up from his nightmare involving Rachel and Ross by sitting up in his bed.
- Dinosaurs Are Dragons: Phoebe persuades Monica to let Phoebe massage her by comparing it to not letting Ross teach them about "dragons".Monica: Dinosaurs.
Phoebe: Po-tay-to, po-tah-to. - Does This Remind You of Anything?: Phoebe reacts to finding Monica getting a massage from someone else like a jilted lover who just found their partner cheating on them.
- Feeling the Baby Kick: Rachel comes into Joey's bedroom in the middle of the night to have him feel the baby's first kicks (she compares them to female soccer player Mia Hamm). It's a little awkward because Joey's not wearing anything below waist besides a sheet, but they make do and it's heartwarming all the same.
- Hairpin Lockpick: While trying to work out how to open the closet Joey asks Chandler for a bobby pin to try and use. After snarking that he's not a nine-year-old girl, Chandler heads to the bathroom to get one of Monica's hairpins instead.Joey: Sure, "Monica".
- Happy-Ending Massage: The Stinger has Phoebe attempt to reciprocate Monica's excitement by talking dirty to her while giving her a massage. Monica is shocked by it and then Phoebe stops and awkwardly says they probably won't talk for weeks.
- The Immodest Orgasm: Monica makes very loud sex noises when getting a massage, which makes Phoebe uncomfortable.
- Lampshade Hanging: Chandler's subplot focuses on finding out what's in a closet that's always been in view of the audience. He acknowledges he's never seen the inside of it before.
- Made Myself Sad: Joey initially tries to put up a brave front about Rachel moving out by talking about the kind of things he can do now. He inevitably cracks when talking about being a lone wolf and how that means he's all alone.
- Man Hug: How Chandler consoles a depressed Joey, after Rachel moves out.
- Nightmare Sequence: Joey dreams that he's at Rachel's side when she gives birth, but the baby is Ross, who tells Joey, "I hope you're a better father than you were a friend!"
- Running Gag: Ross realizing he forgot about given plans with Mona.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: During the last massage attempt, Monica and Phoebe get a little too into it and realize it, as well. Phoebe opts to leave and says she'll be keeping her distance for a few weeks.
- Shout-Out: Upon seeing how messy the closet is, Chandler observes he married Fred Sanford and hums a little bit of that theme song.
- Skeleton Key Card: Joey suggests doing this to try and open the closet. Chandler ends up losing the card through the gap in the door instead.
- Trash of the Titans: Chandler discovers that Monica is a hoarder who keeps a whole lot of disorganized junk inside the mystery closet.
