Monica tries to keep secret from Rachel that she went shopping with Ross' girlfriend Julie. Ross takes care of his son Ben and is grossed out by Carol's breast milk. Joey has a job spraying men's cologne at customers, but his more succesful colleague Todd, aka "The Hombre Guy" is giving him a hard time.

- Buffy Speak: After Hombre Guy gets fired.Joey: These new guys never last long. Sooner or later, they just... stop lasting.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: This is the episode where Rachel's nasty attitude towards Julie kicks off, with her outright calling her a "bitch" behind her back. Monica does reason with her that Julie hasn't done anything wrong, and Rachel admits that she's jealous of them when she and Julie sit down to chat (although obviously she doesn't go into exactly why).
- Continuity Nod: After asking Phoebe for a haircut at the end of the last episode, Julie does indeed have shorter hair in this episode (though it doesn't particularly resemble Roddy Mc Dowell's).
- Convenient Misfire: Parodied. When Joey and Hombre Guy have their Showdown at High Noon, Joey's perfume won't spray, which turns out to be lucky, as Hombre Guy accidentally sprays a customer in the face, who threatens to sue. Had Joey sprayed first, he likely would have gotten in trouble.
- Cowboy Episode: Joey's storyline basically turns into The Western thanks to his rivalry with the cowboy-attired "Hombre Guy". There's a Showdown at High Noon over who can spritz the first customer of the day, Joey walking away towards a sunset-themed poster with Annabelle, and Chandler acting as The Bartender and giving Joey advice before cracking a joke about the whole scenario.Chandler: Now go see Miss Kitty and she'll set you up with a nice hooker.
- Does This Remind You of Anything?: Rachel and Monica's argument over the latter going shopping with Julie plays out like Rachel caught Monica cheating on her.Monica: Look, when it started I was just trying to be nice to her because she was my brother’s girlfriend. And then, One Thing Led to Another and, before I knew it, we were... shopping.
Rachel: Oh my god.
Monica: Honey, wait. We only did it once. It didn’t mean anything to me!
Rachel: Yeah, right.
Monica: Really, Rachel, I was thinking of you the whole time! - Evil Sounds Raspy: "Hombre Guy" doesn't say much, but when he does it's in a low, growling voice. Apparently he's putting it on as his voice gets much higher when he's apologising for spraying a customer in the eye.
- Good Colors, Evil Colors: The "Hombre Guy" wears a black cowboy outfit and Joey is eventually forced to wear a completely white version.
- Group Hug: Rachel and Monica hug twice when they make up. Phoebe is present and insists in joining in both times despite acknowledging it has nothing to do with her.
- Platonic Declaration of Love: Monica and Rachel when they make up.
- Unusual Euphemism: Rachel describes breastmilk as "juice squeezed from a person."
- You're Drinking Breast Milk: The gang are grossed out by how nonchalant Phoebe and Joey are about tasting Carol's breast milk. When they find out that Ross refused to try it Carol and Susan tease him mercilessly. During the end credits Ross finally makes himself try it, and stuffs cookies in his mouth after drinking it.
