Niles has an incredibly lucky day, while Frasier and Martin deal with a prospective replacement for Daphne as Frasier's housekeeper.
Tropes:
- Entitled Bastard: Trish does little to no actual work, yet still expects Martin and Frasier to pay her for the days she never bothered showing up for.
- Hollywood Heart Attack: Averted by Niles who's having a "walking heart attack". The only symptom is a toothache, which he acknowledges could be "referred pain" but convinces himself it's just a dental issue. He eventually goes to his doctor but still assumes it's nothing major until the doctor tells him he has to check into the hospital now.
- Lazy Bum: Trish, Martin's choice for new housekeeper. She tends to avoid doing any actual work in favor of skipping off, watching football and getting drunk, and what little work she does do is organized around giving her time to laze around. Judging by her comments, this has gotten her fired from a lot of jobs, but she doesn't seem to notice the connection.
- Mood Whiplash:
- There's the plot of Marty having to cover up for Trish's laziness, dealing with an oblivious Frasier's ingratitude and typical fuss-budgetness while Niles goes through increasingly improbable events. Then in the final scene he goes to a doctor and is told his problem is serious. Life-and-death serious.
- A terrified Niles is about to go to the doctor and takes one last look at Daphne, internally soliliquizing over her... until an oblivious Daphne scolds him for not cleaning out their bird cage, and Niles figures that at least when he's dead, she'll not be making him do stuff.
- Running Gag: Frasier and his battle with the umbrella returns, as he ruins the floor Martin's just polished.
- Similar Squad: As part of the weirdness surrounding Niles' day, he sees an African-American couple in the cafe who sound almost exactly like him and Daphne, right down to having the same names.
- Special Guest: Ana Gasteyer as Trish.
- The Tag: As the doctor tries to reassure Niles, he hands him another bottle of water, which causes Niles to panic.
- Wham Line: At the doctor's office, the man tells Niles they found an anomaly in his heartbeat and he needs to go to the hospital. When Niles says he'll clear his schedule, the doctor states he needs to go in now.
