Recap / Frasier S 02 E 06 The Botched Language Of Cranes

Go To

On a rainy day, Frasier harmlessly mocks Seattle on the air when speaking to a caller and upon receiving some backlash, he ends up accidentally reviling everyone in the city for overreacting.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Public Confession: When Frasier thinks he's off the air after smoothing things over, his frustrations with having to deal with oversensitive people reaches its peak.
Frasier: Good grief! Have you ever in your life heard such a bunch of whiny, provincial crybabies? I swear to God, this entire city has lost its tiny, rain-addled mind!
Roz: Dr. Crane, we're still on the air.
  • Hated by All: Frasier ends up being a pariah for harmlessly jabbing at Seattle and later becomes even more of a pariah where he unintentionally insults everyone in the city when he thinks he's off the air.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Frasier misses the announcement about the Bishop being lost at sea. Unfortunately his speech is heavy on jokes about priests, death and various water-related puns which ends up offending the entire crowd.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While he was rather indignant about it, Frasier is right about how people are overreacting to his harmless mockery of Seattle.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Frasier's Accidental Public Confession.
  • "We're Live" Realization: Roz frantically interrupts Frasier's tirade to warn him that they're still live.
