Season 4, Episode 11:

The Code

Written by Andrew Chambliss and Alex Delyle
Directed by Tara Nicole Weyr

Morgan meets a brother-sister pair who offer him help.

Tropes:

  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: The twins decide to head for Virginia with presumably hostile intentions, demanding Morgan cough up Alexandria’s location.
  • Avengers Assemble: Morgan intends to use the twins’ rig to pick up his surviving friends in Texas and others so they can all go to Virginia together.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Even though the twins seek to make a splash when they arrive in Virginia, they’re just two people going up against a coalition of five communities of well over a thousand armed, combat-proficient people.
  • Caught with Your Pants Down: Downplayed. Morgan is accosted by Wendell while he’s got his pants down on the toilet. Morgan can only awkwardly ask for Wendell to give him a minute, which Wendell is considerate enough to do.
  • For the Evulz: Martha decides to go and wreak havoc on Morgan for trying to spread good.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Jim points out how much societies enjoy a good drink, though he has let it go to his head.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite regarding him as a threat and not knowing if he’s really armed or not, Wendell still allows him a minute once he senses Morgan is a bit preoccupied.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Morgan is initially set on returning to the group in Texas. However, once he sees the hurricane took out a bridge, he decides to bail on them and simply take the twins with him to Virginia.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Jim doesn’t even thank Morgan for saving him from the walkers.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Downplayed. Wendell, a paraplegic, notes rather pointedly that before the fall, non-paraplegics used handicap bathrooms without care for the people who really needed it. He says he never asked why, but decides to ask Morgan why he was in a handicap bathroom; and doesn’t hold it against him in this case since he was hardly expecting anyone else to come to the bathroom anyway.
