Taxman

Rookie agent Ray Cannon joins the Fugitive Task Force as they hunt down a mysterious killer targeting IRS offices.

Tropes:

  • Ambiguous Situation: It is not known if Marion, Bill, or both were the ones who raped Darla. It is also not revealed which one impregnated Darla.
  • Asshole Victim: IRS agents Marion Meeks and/or Bill Anson who raped and impregnated Darla.
  • Black Dude Dies First: Marion.
  • Child by Rape: Darla ended up getting impregnated by Marion or Bill.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: As explained by Dr. Jay Safrit, Darla was abandoned by her parents when she was only seven. She has been through eleven foster homes by the time she was 18. Her first two alters, "Diane" and "Greg", emerged as her way of coping. Things got worst for Darla after she was raped and impregnated, which led to the emergence of "David".
  • Dishonored Dead: After speaking to Marion Meeks' widow Laisa, she tells Remy and Ray that Marion will be cremated rather than be buried. Ray knows this is off because Marion comes from a Baptist family and Baptists, especially ones in the South, don't usually do cremations because of their views on the rapture. Remy assumes it's because of how the bomb decimated Marion, but Ray says even that doesn't disqualify the option of a closed casket. The team eventually learns that Marion possibly sexually assaulted the Villain of the Week alongside a close friend of his and Ray realizes that Laisa wanted Marion cremated because she believed Marion was a rapist and thought he deserved to be punished through cremation.
  • Dislikes the New Guy: Downplayed with Sheryl towards Ray whom she is initially mostly distant with. Sheryl's main issue is that she feels that Remy has been sidelining her since her return from maternity leave.
  • Innocent Bystander: A nameless man is flung by the shockwave of the first bombing. It's implied he survived since he isn't mentioned as a fatality.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Discussed between Sheryl and Remy since her return from maternity leave.
  • Samus Is a Girl: The team initially thinks the bomber is a man based due to the latter having short hair and wearing an army jacket. The DNA on the jacket later proves otherwise.
  • Split Personality: Darla suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder (or DID). As explained by Darla's doctor Jay Safrit, she has two prior personalities or "alters": "Diane" and "Greg". A third personality, "David", emerged after Darla's rape and impregnation.
  • Split-Personality Switch Trigger: "David" emerged in the aftermath of Darla's rape. It got worse when Darla learned she was pregnant and was unable to get an abortion due to not reporting the rape on time.
  • Tragic Villain: Darla Crais.
