The team searches for a businessman wanted for murder and an embezzlement scheme. Also, Jess takes advantage of his empty nest to properly court Sarah.

- Craig Osterholm was an abusive Control Freak who emotionally battered Brittany Walsh and sweet-talked her into not pressing charges against him and staying with him. After taking him to his cabin, Craig kills Brittany and stashes her body into a freezer.
- Sheriff Matt Lewis chose not to throughly investigate Brittany Walsh's disappearance because the prime suspect was the son of his wife's cousin. He ends up having to resign when the Fugitive Task Force uncovers this and reports him to Internal Affairs and the FBI's Public Integrity Unit.
- Fat Bastard: Sheriff Matt Lewis and Caleb Walsh, although the latter has his reasons.
