A disturbance in the space-time continuum results in Kylie switching places with a rebel fighter from the future, where New York is ruled by a paranormal tyrant called Tempus. In the process, Tempus is split into two versions of himself in both time zones.
- Bad Future: The Tempus Timeline has the world conquered by Ghosts and the Ghostbusters are long dead.
- Foreshadowing: While rallying Slimer for their Last Stand, Egon reminds him what will happen if Tempus destroys the Containment Unit and the 'residents' escape: Among other things, they hate Slimer for siding with the Ghostbusters against his own kind. This warning will come to pass a few episodes later during "Slimer's Sacrifice".
- Future Loser: While Isaac remembers Kylie, Roland and Eduardo, he doesn't know about Garrett, implying that he died before the "Ghost War" ever started.
- Great Escape: The "Ghost War" started when Tempus releases all the ghosts in the Containment Unit.
- Near-Villain Victory: Tempus comes very close to blasting open the inner hatch on the Containment Unit in the climax before The Cavalry arrives.
- Stable Time Loop: Tempus actually never exists in the first place only until he is separated into two individuals with one sent into the past to complete the loop. The Ghostbusters make sure that loop never happens.
- Time Capsule: The Ghostbusters prepares one that stores Ghostbusting equipment to help Kylie. But after Tempus destroys it, Garrett creates a make-shift one using a garbage bag.
