There's something strange in the air over Eureka.

Jo: So... now we have two suns.
Zane: Just like Tatooine!
Carter: Tattoo-what?

During the mayoral election, a second sun appears. Meanwhile, Thorne is hiding three bodies.

Tropes

  • Big "NO!": Henry, when he's announced as the new mayor despite not actually running.
  • Child Prodigy: Kylie, Zoe's partner for school work, is approximately ten and has accidentally created the second sun. She spends the rest of the episode working with the adults to solve the problem.
  • Dark Horse Victory: Henry wins the election as a write-in candidate.
  • Due to the Dead: Eva Thorne's behaviour towards the three bodies removed from the bunker is almost reverent, and she describes them as good people.
  • Election Day Episode: It's Eureka's mayoral election.
  • Heat Wave: Due to the second sun.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Dr Herrera predicts that the second sun will burn itself out soon, seconds before another flare melts a silo outside his lab.
  • It Has Been an Honor: As Zane and Carter prepare to go into a much too hot glass house, protected only by a prototype sunblock/antiperspirant.
Zane: Hey Carter. Whatever happens, it's been fun.
Carter: No, it hasn't. Push the button.
  • It's Personal: Eva Thorne indicates that her interest in the bodies from the bunker is personal, implying that one of them is related to her in some way.
Eva Thorne: You can't escape your history, no matter how hard you try. I'm trying to put mine behind me, so stay out of my way!
  • No Kill like Overkill: Eva Thorne's forbidding of a plan to save the town suggests she's willing to leave Eureka as a "mile-wide crater" to cover up whatever she's doing.
  • No-Paper Future: Averted. The Eureka election is entirely done on old-fashioned paper ballots, because an electronic system would be far too easy to hack.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Eva Thorne insists that everyone is wrong in their conclusions about her activities. As it looks an awful lot like she's covering up some suspicious deaths in Eureka's history, no one's willing to take her at her word.
  • Pun: In addition to what's going on outside, Lexi's scan shows she's pregnant with twin boys, or two sons.
  • Running Gag: The Jeep's tires are melted as temperatures soar.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title is derived from a The Beatles song.
    • Zane mentions that the two suns are like Tatooine.
