Recap / Epithet Erased: TWO-lloween

Go To

A Loose Canon bonus episode written specifically for the Epithet Erased Halloween Cast Reunion panel that occurred as part of Youmacon 2020's digital event, where the episode's script was read live by the cast. Set shortly after the first season, the plot sees Giovanni inviting various members of the cast to a Two-loween party at a supposedly haunted house.

This script contains examples of the following tropes:

  • And Introducing: Not in the script itself, but in the tweet announcing the event, Jello introduced Siv Ryan (Trixie's voice actor) in this way, as this episode would be the first time the audience is given a prolonged introduction the character.
  • Author Filibuster: After Sylvie finds his costume (the electoral college, which In-Universe is no longer in use), Molly and Sylvie take a second to discuss said systems failings in scene that is clearly just Jello venting his own feelings toward the system
    Molly: What are you?
Sylvie: I'm the scariest thing I can think of: the electoral college. I wasn't sure how to represent it visually so I cut out some foam in the shape of a gerrymandered voting district.
Molly: The electoral... oh! We learned about in history class! That's that weird old voting system we used to have that didn't work, right?
Sylvie: Yeah, it skewed elections based on land size instead of actual voters.
Molly: Wow that does sound scary. I'm glad we got rid of it.
    Sylvie: Me too.
[Sylvie and Molly stare at the camera for five seconds.]
  • Cheap Costume: Most characters get their costumes relatively cheap from the local Halloween pop-up store. Sylvie makes his himself out of foam.
  • Embarrassing First Name: The episode reveals that Molly and her sister's first names are actually "Molly-Wolly-Doodle-All-the-Day" and "Lorelinebacker" respectively. Their dad wanted to give them "unique" names that no one else had, so their mother picked their nicknames and he extended them to the word vomit they currently are.
  • Excuse Plot: The entire episode is just an excuse to have some neat interactions between the characters with little actual plot beyond them going to a Halloween party.
  • Foreshadowing: When Molly introduces Giovanni to her friend Trixie, both of them respond with a flat “oh” and glare at each other. Come Prison of Plastic, when Giovanni and Trixie encounter each other, they react in the same way, and a reason is given for this reaction: They’re first cousins, and they find each other annoying.
  • Halloween Costume Characterization: Being a Halloween Episode, Twoloween is full of this. Giovanni’s minions dress as him while he dresses as all of his minions simultaneously, showing their admiration of each other. Percy wears a boot on her head as a joke costume (gum under a shoe) that only she finds funny, fitting her odd sense of humor and generally loose grasp of social conventions. Howie wears a bee costume, because he is fond of animals with a strong work ethic like him. Indus attempts to dress as a bag by putting a bag on his head, because he is stupid.
  • Halloween Episode: The whole script is themed around Halloween, as the script was written for an event on Halloween. That said, the script takes place on November 1st, as Giovanni believes throwing a Halloween party the day after Halloween is unexpected, and therefore scarier.
  • Loose Canon: While the episode was deliberately not written to be canon, it still contains elements of canon material and the characters still act as they would had it been a normal episode of the show.
  • Mandatory Line: Most characters are only included because the writer wanted all of the voice actors on the show to play a part, as they all agreed to be part of the script, but the strongest example of this is Howdy Morning’s cat, who gets exactly one meow as the final line of the script.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Howdy Morning appears naked at the end of the final scene, and it’s played as a ridiculous situation.
  • Noodle Incident: The government experiments done on Howdy Morning apparently caused his genitals to be permanently pixelated.
  • Out of Focus:
    • While Trixie is given a chance to shine a bit, Phoenica, due to not having an official voice actor at the time of the episode's script bring written, is almost completely absent from the episode. She only appears in one scene and even then it's through a phone group chat with Molly and Trixie.
    • With Dark Star as the sole exception, none of Giovanni's boys have speaking roles despite all appearing at the Two-loween party.
  • Sexy Whatever Outfit: Percy expresses disgust at the debaucherous costumes at the store, one of which is “sexy mustard”.
