"We will not receive payment unless the newspapers are properly delivered."
Double D has taken up a paperboy job to afford a new electron microscope. Upon learning this, Eddy is determined to make as much profit from this as possible. Unfortunately, even with all the Eds working together, Eddy may have overestimated just how much they could handle.
This episode contains the following tropes:
- Broken Record: Edd says "Summer rains, you can never predict them" every time the weather changes, which happens multiple times in quick succession, causing a frustrated Eddy to tell him to shut up.
- Comically Missing the Point: When Edd recounts how much money he has left needed to earn to get an electron microscope, Eddy mistakes it as how much money he's earning on just one route. Edd tries to correct him, but Eddy won't hear it.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: This is the only time in the entire series the Eds get an actual, official job in order to make money. The closest thing we've seen in the later seasons was Will Work for Ed, where Ed was hired by Rolf to help him with his farm. Given Eddy's lazy nature and love for get rich quick schemes, him actually taking up a job would be unheard of in later seasons.
- Forcibly Formed Physique: Ed falls into Edd's newspaper launcher and comes out rolled up like a newspaper.
- Homemade Inventions: Edd assembles a device, resembling an inverse vacuum cleaner with an insertion funnel, for launching newspapers at doors. It does the job very nicely, until Ed accidentally loads it with Eddy's bed, sending it into overdrive.
- Tempting Fate: "Summer rains, you can never predict them."
- The Voiceless: Kevin has no lines in this episode.
- Wraparound Background: While Ed is running toward Edd's house, his run animation can be clearly seen cutting off and looping as a plot of land suddenly disappears every couple seconds.
