Heather has been keeping in touch with Fishlegs. Sensing that she could use some guidance, the group invites her to Dragon's Edge to potentially join them as a rider, but something seems to be wrong with Windshear.

When Heather plans to leave for Windshear's sake, Fishlegs doesn't outright declare he loves Heather but says he doesn't just want to go back to being "long-distance Terror-Mail pals" with her; Heather gets the gist and says she feels the same way but can't just neglect Windshear since she's looked out for Heather since they first met, which actually inspires Fishlegs to come up with the idea of switching dragons.
- Ship Tease: Heather and Astrid tease each other about their respective crushes on Fishlegs and Hiccup.
- Sixth Ranger: Heather joins up with the Dragon Riders on Dragon's Edge and becomes a recurring character.
