The kids and dragons are set to go to an amusement park called Wonderworld, but Zak and Wheezie have a broken wing meaning they have to go on foot. They face obstacles while finding a new way there, so everyone can come along for the fun.
"The Greatest Show In Dragon Land" provides examples of:
- All for Nothing: After having to go a long way because of Zak and Wheezie's broken wing, the gang finally reaches Wonderworld...only to discover it's a kiddie park.
- Go-to-Sleep Ending: The episode ends with Emmy and Max zonking out on their pillow slide.
- Injured Limb Episode: Zak and Wheezie broke their wing sometime before Max and Emmy arrived.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: Wonderworld is actually a kiddie park with mundane rides, which the gang didn't expect at all.
- Wanting Is Better Than Having: Of the "It's the journey, not the destination" variety. The gang went through all sorts of fun adventures trying to reach Wonderworld, from riding a sea serpent to sliding down the snow on a mountain. But once they reach Wonderland, they see that it's a kiddie amusement park that hardly measures up to the fun and adventures they had. So much so that they decide to go through the journey again.
Quetzal gives the gang a map to Crystal Cave where they will be able to watch dancing crystals at sunset. But when Emmy refuses to follow the map to get there, everyone is lost until knowing the importance of planning ahead.
"Prepare According To Instructions" provides examples of:
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Thanks to Emmy's insistence they don't bring anything, the gang doesn't have what they need to gather the water and dandelion fuzzies; they have no bucket to carry the water, no giant bandage for Zak's foot, no map to help them get past Turtle Rock, and no light source in case Ord gets scared of the dark.
- Race Against the Clock: The gang has until the sun sets to reach the Crystal Cave or the crystals won't dance for them.
- Tempting Fate: As everyone leaves without any supplies and Cassie is nervous, Emmy replies, "Everything is gonna be fine! What could happen?" Since they're unprepared, it causes them to derail and almost miss everything.
