Revealing conflicting goals, Senku and Tsukasa begin clashing. At a significant power disadvantage, Senku and his friends escape to Hakone to create a weapon of science.
Tropes present in Vs. Tsukasa Arc:
- Chekhov's Gun:
- The scientist mentoring Senku in his flashback will become immensely important later on.
- The smoke signal being returned.
- Senku sure has been touching his neck a lot, doesn't he?
- Epic Fail: Senku's goal to not let Tsukasa learn about the Revival Fluid goes up in flames not less than ten seconds after he thought of it.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Now a full villain, Tsukasa lets Taiju and Yuzuriha escape after Taiju's diversion.
- Pure Is Not Good: Tsukasa's goal of reviving the pure-hearted youth involves killing adults who might get in between his goal.
- Race Against the Clock: If Senku manages to invent gunpowder before Tsukasa, Senku wins. If Tsukasa manages to kill Senku before that, Tsukasa wins.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Tsukasa wants to only revive the youth, or the pure-hearted people, after suffering from the wrath of adults in his childhood.
- Worthy Opponent: Tsukasa genuinely shows his displeasure in killing Senku and promises him it will be quick.
