Go To

Original air date: 10/9/2000

Dora never goes anywhere without her Backpack, and Boots never goes anywhere without his beloved red boots. But in this wild water adventure, Boots loses a boot in the big river! He'll need the help of Dora, Backpack, and preschoolers to get it back!

Tropes:

  • Aside Glance: After he is stopped by Dora and Boots the first time, Swiper briefly pauses to glance at the camera and then back to the two before saying "Oh, man!" and running off.
  • Book Ends: Boots sings his "I Love My Boots" song at the beginning, but it ends with him suddenly losing a boot in the river. He sings it again after getting his boot back, only this time he manages to keep them both intact.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Dora's fishing pole at the beginning of the episode becomes handy after catching up with the boot, so Dora can fish it out.
  • Either/Or Title: The episode is sometimes called "The Big River".
  • Inevitable Waterfall: The final destination of the river, which the boot falls over. Dora and Boots had to avoid going over the waterfall themselves and had to take a little river around it.
  • Rule of Three: The Travel Song is sung three times for the first time in the series; it is sung twice in particular on the way to Froggy Rocks, the third time occurring after Dora and Boots passed the tree branches.
  • Stock Footage: The footage of the fish dancing in the river is reused twice near the end, first during a reprise of "I Love My Boots", and again during "We Did It".
