Recap / Donkey Kong Country S1E4 "Barrel, Barrel, Who's Got the Barrel"

Go To

Wanting to outdo Donkey Kong and win Candy Kong's affections, Bluster Kong does the unthinkable and steals the Crystal Coconut from Cranky! However, when he loses it, all of Kongo Bongo is in danger- King K.Rool wants the Coconut to power his spy satellite, and the Coconut falls into the hands of Eddie, the Mean Old Yeti!

Tropes

  • Dodgy Toupee: Because Candy apparently likes DK for being "A big hairy ape", Bluster gets an over-the-top drooping spike of a wig called the Banana Flip. It later gets eaten by Klaptraps.
  • Oh, Crap!!: Donkey, Diddy, and Cranky Kong all make this face when a very pissed Eddie the Mean Old Yeti shows up with a big-ass club in his hand. They know that they are screwed.
  • Scooby-Dooby Doors: When Donkey and Diddy chase Eddie the Mean Old Yeti for the barrel.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: For once, it's Klump on the end of this trope when his Trigger-Happy Kritters keep shooting their guns at the slightest provocation.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Bluster was already a jerk to begin with, but this episode makes him to be an outright villain. He purposely steals the Crystal Coconut just so that Candy would fall for him. Then, when DK and Diddy are trapped in a cave in the White Mountains, Bluster takes the Coconut and attempts to ditch them.
  • Villain Song: "Here I Go Creeping", a song Bluster sings about stealing the Crystal Coconut and using it to win Candy's heart.
  • With Catlike Tread: Bluster sings while stealing the Coconut.
